Sarah was raised in the beautiful Okanagan Valley - the traditional, ancestral, and unceded land of the Syilx Okanagan people. Life in the vibrant landscapes of British Columbia brought Sarah a deep appreciation for the interconnectedness of people and the land. Her upbringing instilled a passion for fostering holistic well-being and empowering people to navigate life’s challenges with resiliency and authenticity.
Sarah has been honoured to gain all her social work experience on Treaty 8 Territory - the traditional meeting ground, gathering place, and travelling route to the Cree, Dene, Dane-zaa (Beaver), and Metis. Working predominately with youth in the community of Fort McKay, Sarah utilized sports, recreation, and arts as tools to enhance relationships and celebrate resiliency.
Believing that healing takes many forms, Sarah embraced the opportunity to offer equine-assisted therapy at Blue Rein Ranch (Fort Macleod, Alberta). This experience provided her with a unique perspective that has deepened her personal and professional interest in developing alternative approaches to therapy and healing.
Sarah prides herself on utilizing a person-centred and strengths-based approach to support people in navigating anxiety and stress, grief and loss, relationships and attachment patterns, life transitions, self-exploration, personal growth, emotional dysregulation, self-harm, and suicide ideation. Drawing from an array of therapeutic models and experiences, Sarah takes an existentialist approach to supporting people in exploring purpose and meaning in their lives.
"Memento Vivere," translated from Latin as "remember to live," underscores the importance of gratitude and the impermanence of our time. This phrase serves as a reminder and an invitation to live fully, authentically, and with purpose, care, and intention.
Sarah offers in-person and virtual therapy services to teens and adults throughout Fort McMurray and the greater Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
